FDAS Troubleshooting for Unlisted Firearm Makes and Calibers

During the implementation of FDAS, it was brought to our attention that the Gun Make and Caliber drop-down menus contained in FDAS were not as complete as necessary to enable dealers to enter Buy, Pawn, or Consignment firearm transactions. This occurred due to the fact that DOJ has never required pawn and second hand dealers to report long-gun information electronically. We have identified the missing/omitted gun Manufacturers and Calibers and updated both the Gun Make and Caliber drop-down menus in FDAS. These changes were effective July 28, 2010.

As you continue to use the revised drop down menus, if there are any other issues which may be in need of further review/clarification, please continue to report them via email to FDAS Support.

In the meantime, the following is provided as a guide for selecting Make and Caliber information in the event that a particular choice is not shown in the drop-down menus on the FDAS Enter Transaction Details screen:

If the Firearm MAKE is not listed,

The Department has taken comprehensive steps to insure most gun makes have been included on the FDAS gun make drop-down menu. If you are unable find a particular gun make on the drop-down menu, please call the FDAS Support Unit at (916) 227-3589 or email FDAS Support.

If the Firearm CALIBER is not listed,

The Department has taken comprehensive steps to insure most gun calibers have been included on the FDAS gun caliber drop-down menu. If you are unable find a particular gun caliber on the drop-down menu, please call the FDAS Support Unit at (916) 227-3589 or email FDAS Support.
